HVAC Incentives for Contractors Southern Nevada

For 2008 NV Energy is offering incentives for participating contractors (please read this disclaimer) who perform refrigerant charge and airflow (RCA), and duct testing and sealing (DTS) for the new home and existing home markets to help promote high efficiency air conditioning in Nevada.

NV Energy's goal is to promote the use of high efficiency air conditioners by homeowners and homebuilders in Nevada. However, as an experienced HVAC contractor you know the best equipment in the world is useless if the installation isn't done properly.

Contractors can only receive Tune-Up incentives by performing the approved methodology and electronic verification. Homeowners and homebuilders can only get incentives by having their systems installed and tested, and electronically verified by a participating HVAC contractor. And it's also why we are giving incentives to HVAC contractors for completing these tests through electronic verification.

Incentives for HVAC Tune-Ups

Intended to promote proper maintenance of existing HVAC installs, the incentives are available to HVAC Contractors who are program participants and only for HVAC systems that have not received a incentive for a Tune-Up within the last five years. Learn more here.

Incentives for Testing of High Efficiency A/C Installs in Existing Homes

Please note: All work and air conditioning equipment purchases must be completed after May 15, 2007.

In the case of existing homes, the homeowner must have a Refrigerant Charge and Coil Air Flow performed to qualify for a incentive on the installation of higher efficiency HVAC system. They may, if they wish, have a Duct Testing and Sealing service done as well. We will give you, the HVAC contractor, the following incentive for performing these tests:

Duct testing and sealing is based upon the actual percentage of reduction in duct leakage. The compensation level is based on a minimum reduction of 5%, with a maximum cap of 28%. The minimum reduction to qualify for the incentive is 5%, and the final air duct leakage measurement of the entire system after service is completed must be less than 40% total leakage. Please note, the incentives for either service are not intended to cover the entire cost.

Example: Refrigerant Charge and Air Flow for a 5 ton Air Conditioning Unit x $25 per ton = $125 incentive
plus...
Example: Duct Testing: & Sealing for a 5 ton Air Conditioning Unit x $2.75 per ton x 12% reduction = $165 incentive for a total of a $290 incentive to the HVAC contractor.

Incentives for Testing of Homebuilder High Efficiency A/C Installs in New Homes

In the case of new homes, the homebuilders must have both a Refrigerant Charge and Coil Air Flow and a Duct Testing and Sealing performed to qualify for an incentive on the installation of higher efficiency HVAC system. And we give you, the HVAC contractor, the following incentive for performing these tests:

Example: Refrigerant Charge and Air Flow for a 5 ton Air Conditioning Unit x $20 per ton = $100 incentive
plus...
Example: Duct Testing: & Sealing for a 5 ton Air Conditioning Unit x $45 per ton = $225 incentive for a total of a $325 incentive to the HVAC contractor.

This program only applies to air conditioning units between 1 1/2 to 5 tons.
