Nevada Power is now accepting applications from non-profit agencies to fund weatherization and energy-efficiency retrofit projects to help reduce electric energy-related operational costs. To qualify for these grants an agency must be a Nevada Power customer in good standing, a 501(c)(3) physically located within the company’s service area, and the money must be used to fund energy-efficiency retrofits or weatherization projects.
Nevada Power will award a total of $100,000. Improvement projects must be completed by May 1, 2008. Individual projects may be funded in full up to $5,000. For grants between $5,000 and $10,000, a 50% matching investment from the nonprofit organization will be required. Agencies must provide a written confirmation upon completion of the funded improvements and a copy of the contractor invoice.
You can download a copy of the grant application here.
Grant applications will be rated and awarded based on electrical energy savings.
Examples of energy saving projects include: replacement of old inefficient 6 SEER air conditioner with high efficiency 14 SEER air conditioner, upgrade lighting systems, window film, controls such as thermostats, occupancy sensors, timers or other measures that reduce electric energy consumption.
The attached application form may be submitted via U.S. Mail, fax or hand delivery by close of business on Friday, April 4, 2008.
